We are pleased to offer a five-part Management Liability Insurance Specialist (MLIS®) program in partnership with International Risk Management Institute, Inc. (IRMI®). The specialized MLIS curriculum focuses specifically on directors & officers (D&O) liability, employment practices liability (EPL), and fiduciary liability insurance. Management liability exposures and coverages are complex, and insurance generalists frequently make errors in designing programs for their clients. Completing the MLIS curriculum will ensure that the agent, broker, consultant, or in-house risk manager or insurance buyer understands the most important aspects of professional and management liability.

Obtaining your MLIS Certification

The core curriculum for the MLIS program consists of five parts - each approx 6 hrs. 

  1. Core Cyber and Privacy Liability Exposures and How to Insure Them 
  2. EPL: Understanding the Exposures and Insurance Coverage
  3. Fiduciary Liability: What You Need to Know About Exposures and Insurance
  4. How to Insure D&O Liabilities
  5. Understanding D&O Exposures

To qualify as a holder of the MLIS certification, participants must complete all five courses and pass the corresponding online examinations (with a minimum score of 70%) within one year of purchase. 

Each course is independent of the others and you may complete them in any order you choose but there is a recommended order that will be shown before beginning the Designation. 

Those who complete the program are entitled to display the MLIS certification to certify their knowledge of management liability insurance.

The Designation is valid for one year from issuance of the Digital Badge and can be renewed every 12-month period after successfully completing an approved 6 hr class.

Kym Martell is owner and founder of K.M. Associates, Insurance Management & Training Consultants specializes in training and consultant services. Kym has designed, developed and delivered continuing education and professional training programs on a national level for a variety of clients. She has also serves as a state faculty member of the Big I New Jersey and several other state insurance associations.

During her long and productive business career, Kym discovered she had a love for and a talent in training insurance professionals. As a result, Kym left the corporate world in 1995 and founded K.M. Associates – Insurance Management and Training Consultants.  Services include property & casualty coverages, sales training, professional coaching, Errors and Omissions (E&O) auditing and preventions, and Expert Witness & litigation support services.

Kym is a speaker and presenter for various professional and private organizations on property and casualty insurance, errors and omissions, national certification programs, Accredited Customer Service Representative (ACSR), Construction Risk Insurance Specialist (CRIS), Accredited Advisor of Insurance (AAI) and Management Liability Insurance Specialist (MLIS), and is a national faculty member of the Agents & Brokers of America for providing their E&O Risk Management Programs.

As a consultant, her extensive corporate and consulting experience perfectly positions Kym to provide professional liability & loss control audits and provide customized E&O loss prevention training in the areas of workflows and agency management.
